W10, T2: End of Term

This week is about reflecting on our actions and moving forward.

We are planning what to do in Term 3.

Here are some of our ideas:

Future World Leaders....

We have been looking at how volcanoes, weather and earthquakes can affect people's lives.

We identified a problem e.g. How can we grow crops when snow/hail destroys it? How can we create warm homes cheaply? How can we make sure roads are not blocked during a snow storm? How can we evacuate faster during a volcano eruption- how can we keep our belongings safe? How can we make sure our houses not break during an earthquake or eruption?

We then worked together to try and find a solution.

This is our first "board meeting".....

Starting our Science inquiry

This term we are looking at cause and effect. Room 11, 12 and Room 13 started their topic with a few science experiments. What do we know what volcanoes, earthquakes and weather?

Circuits, circuits, circuits.

Room 11 and Room 12 have been brainstorming their science projects and looking at "electricity".  We came up with really, really good projects but we didn't know how to make them. (Keycards for class doors? Nightlights? Rockets that fire lasers? Electric go-kart? Lipstick tasers?) How does electricity actually work? We used a game to work out how circuits work (check out Darius's, Hosana's and Yashvi's circuits). We also tried making actual circuits and making our light bulbs work.
